    Shelley and Stephen take a hands-on approach to their work, and have a valued team of trusted and reliable tradespeople with whom they have developed relationships and work with on a continued basis.

    From a design perspective, Shelley enjoys working with and appreciates all aesthetics, and personally looks after each client as she tailors her design solutions to meet their individual needs and taste. She creates spaces that reflect her client's personality and the way they live. Her clients value her efficiency and reliability, as well as her genuine patience, friendly demeanor and pure love of what she does. Her passion for design and en­thu­si­as­tic en­er­gy is obvious and has earned her the reputation as a designer who is easy to work with and committed to quality outcomes. ​Shelley's continuous research and keeping abreast of design trends results in a wonderfully curated "story" for homes to live in as well as homes to be staged and sold.

Born in South Africa, Shelley has lived around the world - a key influence in the ever evolving eclectic, textural, cozy and delightful looks that she is known for. Inspired by her mother and grandmother, both exceptionally talented seamstresses, Shelley was creative from a young age, and has always had a love for decor, fashion and art. Shelley studied Interior Design and Fashion Design in South Africa, Australia and San Diego, and as a result has developed a passion for design from different cultures and eras. Shelley started out in the Fashion Design arena where she owned and operated her own business in South Africa for many years. After immigrating to San Diego, Shelley experienced a brief stint in the corporate world of telecommunications. Whilst loving that world, after a few years, her creativity took over and she was drawn back into the design world, but this time with Interiors.

Today Shelley Sass Designs and Sass Construction and Design is a full-service Interior Design Studio and General Construction Company, assisting clients world wide with a wide variety of services including:

whole and partial home/room remodels, furniture, lighting, accessories, flooring, window treatments, re-upholstery, closet design, space planning, 3D rendering, garage doors, landscape design, windows and doors, painting, collaborating with architects and contractors/builders, designing custom pieces and more.
